Bella: Brittany Oswald

So here we are at last. You see, we got the business photos out of the way --but now it was time for Brittany to experience a different kind of Imaginale session. After the photos with her camera, the laughter, and candids... she asked for a Bella Session.

In a Bella session the client puts complete trust in me to guide them into a more fashion-forward session with styling and posing -- tailored to their specific personality. Model or not, this is for anyone who is willing to push past their comfort zone, even just a little, and allow me to take them to a special place of simple beauty and self-confidence. To realize that I am with them on every step of this experience, no matter how many stills we take or funny it might feel at first. Because in the end my goal is for them to walk away with a renewed sense of self-confidence and beauty.

And while Brittany was a little shy at first, she immersed herself into this world of feminine beauty and blew me away.

I just love, love, love black and white.

Thank you Brittany for embracing the challenge and trusting me on your journey of growth. To celebrate and take hold of a confidence that sometimes tries to slip away. You have a special kind of beauty and I have no doubt God will continue pushing you to see that :)

An Imaginale Design Experience: Brittany Oswald

Meet Brittany..

I've mentioned her before and the great photographer that she is. In fact, you will find that picture up there on her "About Me" section on her website... but not for long.

You see, this pretty lady has been re-branding her entire business and guess who had the honor of taking her promo pics?

(I'm wearing a black glove, if you're looking THAT closely :)

Itsa me, mario! But around here in Imaginale land, we don't just take pictures. Brittany trusted me not only as a photographer, but as a stylist as well. As part of her re-branding, she wanted her photos to portray her new look -- this included a mini make over ;)

Brittany has THE straightest and softest hair. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I decided to give her some soft, loose curls to add volume and layers to her hair. We started off by adding some volumizing foam and shaking her hair to lift the roots up and drying it with a round brush. Then you section the hair off....

.. and start the curling process. The best way to do this is by using a VERY hot curling iron and wrapping the ends around it without using a clamp. In this case, I own an iron that doesn't actually have a clamp. Yes, I'm wearing a black glove -- err, actually a mitten -- so I can hold the hair against the hot iron without burning myself. Believe it or not, I don't own GLOVES!!! But somehow I manage to own mittens. I dunno.

Make sure to clip the already-curled sections together while you're finishing up the rest so they don't get weighed down. And voila!

All we needed now was an outfit. And while Brittany has always pulled off t-shirt and jeans beautifully, she felt it was time to add a little more flair to it. Nothing drastic... just small details to pull the look together.

Bam!! Just gorgeous! Enough subtle hints without changing who Brittany is.

Brittany has such refined beauty and THE best laugh.

And let me tell you, directing Brittany is a photographer's dream. I don't know how much of it is her being a photographer too, but even down to how she placed her hands was perfection.

Oh, you know I had to bring the sassy out.

I have to refrain my words because I'm sure Brittany is probably blushing :) Sorry girl, but you were on fire!!

But this wouldn't be a Brittany shoot without some of these moments.....

Hahaha, I love you girl :)

You think it ends here, but oh nooooo. You see, these were for her business. A slightly tamed version, if you will. But what if a girl wants to get all dressed up? Something that pushes her out of her typical element? Well, that's part of what Brittany's trip was for and I was going to make sure I delivered. I'll be sharing those next week!

Wishing you a slightly untamed Friday ;)

Outfit Chronicles: Guest Photographer

*takes a deep breath* Okay, y'all know I get over excited. Right? I SWEAR if I didn't have to type, my hands would be everywhere as I told you what a week this has been. And the best part is that next week will only bring more!

But back to Outfit Chronicles. Like I told you last week, Brittany from Brittany Nicole Photography was in town for a creative getaway :) I love this girl! I welcomed her with open arms -- camera in one hand and curling iron in the other, hehe. However, she had her plans too -- to get Jose and I in front of the camera! Those are right here if you want to check them out!

Since I was all dressed up, I asked her to go ahead and take my photos for my weekly Outfit Chronicles!

Dress: H&M, shoes: Plato's Closet (steeeeal!), earrings+necklace: F21, bracelet: Happy Hippie Boutique, sweater: no idea -- got it in college.

It was funny because we had gone to the mall to get some clothes for Brittany and also get myself some accessories. Well, we didn't get to the mall until 2:30 p.m. and two hours just FLEW by. I realized we had to race home so we wouldn't miss the sunset. We were hungry and knew that the second we got back to my house, we wouldn't have time to eat so we stopped at Wendys on the way. Oh, and by the way, I found my food-lover partner --- this girl and I are ALWAYS hungry! So when we got to my place, Jose was already dressed (waiting on us) and asked "Alright! We ready to go?!" NOOO! I yelled, as I stuffed the chicken sandwich in my mouth, through bites yelling back -I'm not even ready!

I don't think I've ever gotten ready that fast. My hair, make up, outfit, accessories... all of it done in like 20 minutes. We made it with plenty of time to Papago Park where Brittany created her magic :) She's a beautiful person and photographer. You should be on the edge of your seats to see the photos I took of her! I'll call it my Imaginale Design make over ;) Though I really can't take much credit because Brittany gave me so much to work with.

Hope you're looking forward to it :) Thanks for all of your support!

p.s. LAY OFF ME... I'm STARVING!! -- Our newest inside joke. Extra points to those who can guess where this is from! ;)

Pushing Boundaries

See, I was going to post about my second shooter experience today...

but, there's a special guest that's here who is being completely open to some fashion trends I've shown her. The first? The ever so popular bun:

As I started to tease her hair like crazy the first words out of her mouth were: I'm kind of scared. Good, I said, that's the point of this trip. Exactly, Brittany answered.

Exactly :)

And if you know Brittany at all, you know this is out of the ordinary for her. So here we are, getting ready to push boundaries. So that second shooter post is just going to have to wait.

Happy Monday! Hope you're pushing some boundaries too :)
